Suchá (1262 m a.s.l.) is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path peak in the heart of the Veľká Fatra mountains, rising above the village of Liptovské Revúce. It's a rewarding destination for hikers who enjoy unmarked terrain and a sense of genuine wilderness.

Suchá forms part of a ridge branching westward from the Rakytov massif, within the Hôľna Fatra sub-range. The summit is covered by patchy forest that occasionally opens up to reveal limited but scenic views of the surrounding Veľká Fatra peaks and even the Malá Fatra range in the distance. The northern slope borders the Skalná Alpa nature reserve, lending the area a wild, untouched character. In winter the forest is silent and remote, while summer brings welcome shade along the approach.

How to reach the summit

• No marked trail leads directly to the summit — the nearest yellow-marked trail passes through a saddle along the slope of Rakytov; difficulty: demanding, requires good orientation skills
• The main ridge is crossed by a green-marked trail running from Sedlo pod Čiernym kameňom to Nižné Šiprúnske sedlo

• No marked hiking trail to the summit itself — reaching it requires mountain navigation experience
