Rakytov (1,567 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Liptov branch of the Great Fatra's main ridge — and it is one of those summits that genuinely reward every step of the climb. A full 360-degree panorama awaits at the top, where a summit orientation disc helps you name every distant range on the horizon.

Above 1,300 m the beech forest gives way to open alpine meadows, and the very top is covered with planted dwarf pine. A cross marks the highest point and adds a quiet, contemplative feel to the place. On a clear day you can spot the Little Fatra, parts of the Choč Mountains, the High and Low Tatras, Poľana, the Štiavnica Hills, Babia Hora, and — on exceptionally clear days — even the Moravian-Silesian Beskids with Lysá hora beyond the Strečno gorge. The western slopes drop towards Ľubochňa Valley, while the Teplá and Veľká Rakytová valleys branch off to the south-east. Near the southern foot of the mountain look out for a striking rock formation known as Skalná brána — the Stone Gate.

The summit sits exactly on the cadastral boundary between the villages of Ľubochňa and Liptovské Revúce — a small geographical curiosity that reflects the ridge's long role as a natural border between the Liptov and Turiec regions.
