Sedlo Zákres (1229 m a.s.l.) is a mountain pass tucked into the Rozsutce ridge in the Malá Fatra range of Slovakia, and it has that rare quality of feeling genuinely off the beaten track while still being reachable on a solid half-day hike. Wedged between Malý Rozsutec to the west and the rocky Biele steny to the east, it offers a real taste of wild Slovak mountain scenery.

The pass itself sits on open, grassy terrain — cleared of forest long ago for cattle grazing — which means your views are wide and uninterrupted. To the north the slopes tumble down toward the Biely Potok valley, while to the south they fall away to the Dierový Potok valley and the neighbouring pass of Medzirozsutce. Every season brings a different mood: spring wildflowers on the meadows, lush green in summer, fiery beech colours in autumn, and a quiet, snow-covered solitude in winter for those properly equipped. The whole area falls within the Rozsutec National Nature Reserve, so the landscape here is carefully protected.
