The Orava Region is one of Central Europe's best-kept secrets — a wide, serene highland straddling the Slovak-Polish border, where wooden villages, rolling pastures and genuine mountain culture have remained largely untouched by mass tourism. Come here for space, silence and stunning views.

The landscape unfolds as a broad valley framed by forested ridges, with the Orava River winding through meadows and hamlets. The Orava Reservoir dominates the heart of the region — a glittering artificial lake perfect for kayaking, cycling along its shores or simply watching the Tatra peaks rise on the horizon. A curious fact: composer Wojciech Kilar was so moved by the spirit of Orava that he named one of his most celebrated symphonic poems after the region — its haunting melody captures the melancholy and beauty of this highland perfectly.
