Poludňový grúň (1,446 m a.s.l.) is one of those summits that rewards you with far more than you might expect from a grassy, rounded hilltop. Sitting right in the heart of the Krivánska Fatra range within Malá Fatra National Park, it combines easy accessibility with genuinely impressive views of the surrounding peaks and the beautiful Vrátna Valley below.

The summit is a wide, open, grassy dome — a classic 'hole' (alpine meadow peak) typical of this part of the Western Carpathians. The views of the distant ranges are somewhat limited, but what you get instead is an outstanding close-up panorama of the neighbouring Malá Fatra peaks, including Stoh (1,607 m) to the east and Steny (1,535 m) to the south. On clear days, you can also spot Veľký Choč, the Ďumbier massif, parts of Oravská Magura, and the ridgelines of the Orava, Kysuce and Moravian-Silesian Beskids. The proximity to the Vrátna ski resort and the chalet on the neighbouring Grúň peak makes this a lively destination in winter as well as summer.

Interestingly, a precise GNSS/RTK survey carried out in 2017 revised the summit's elevation from the previously quoted 1,460 m down to 1,446.4 m — a reminder that even well-known peaks still hold surprises.
