Prosiecka Valley is widely regarded as the most beautiful valley in Slovakia — a dramatic karst canyon carved through the Chočské Hills, full of limestone towers, narrow gorges, and surprisingly lush alpine flora. Readers of the Slovak magazine 'Krásy Slovenska' voted it the country's most scenic valley, and once you walk through it, you'll understand why. It's the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave.

Stretching about 3.5 km from the mountain meadows of Svorad down to the village of Prosiek, the valley was sculpted by the Prosiečanka stream over millennia. The result is a textbook karst landscape: sheer rock faces, elegant limestone towers, and tight gorges — especially dramatic at the entrance and the far end of the valley. Springs and sinkholes dot the route, and the famous Prosiecka Cave adds an underground dimension to the experience. The valley's deep incision creates a unique microclimate that allows cold-loving and even alpine plant species to thrive at unusually low elevations — a phenomenon botanists call 'plant inversion'. Spring brings alpine flowers, summer offers refreshing shade, and autumn turns the beech forests into a blaze of gold.

Plant lovers take note: Prosiecka Valley holds the lowest recorded occurrence of shrubby speedwell (Veronica fruticans) in Slovakia, found here at around 700 metres above sea level — a genuine botanical curiosity.
