Prosečné (1,372 m) is the highest summit of the easternmost part of the Choč Mountains in Slovakia — a broad, limestone-and-dolomite massif rising above two spectacular gorges. Come here for sweeping, all-round views that bring together the Tatras, the Fatra ranges and the glittering Liptov basin in a single panorama.

The mountain is bordered by protected valleys on almost every side: the Prosiecka dolina national nature reserve to the west and the equally scenic Kvačianska dolina to the east, both carved through karst terrain. The summit area is only partially forested, rewarding hikers with open views across the Liptov Basin and the Liptovská Mara reservoir, the ridges of the Low and Western Tatras, the Malá and Veľká Fatra, and the Orava Beskids. In spring and summer the gorge trails are lush and dramatic; autumn turns the beech forests copper and gold; in winter the routes demand proper preparation.

• The western slopes fall within the Prosiecka dolina National Nature Reserve — stay on marked trails.
• Kvačianska dolina on the eastern side is also a protected area.

The entire massif sits on karst bedrock, meaning caves and rocky formations lie just beneath the surface — making every hike here feel like a small geological adventure.
