Čutkovská dolina is one of those valleys in the Veľká Fatra mountains that genuinely has something for everyone — family-friendly facilities near the entrance, forested gorges, waterfalls, and sweeping alpine meadows with views all the way to the High Tatras. Whether you are looking for a leisurely stroll or a proper mountain hike up to Šiprúň (1,461 m), this valley delivers.

The valley runs roughly north–south, with the Čutkov stream flowing along its floor. The scenery shifts beautifully as you climb: dense mixed forest gives way to open meadows and rocky outcrops. The highlight is the uppermost section called Maďarovo, where wide pastoral meadows — still used for grazing — frame a breathtaking panorama including Kubínska hoľa, the Šíp Fatra, the Chočské vrchy hills with the distinctive Veľký Choč peak, the Liptov Basin, and the Tatras. The entire valley sits within the buffer zone of the Veľká Fatra National Park.

• The valley lies within the buffer zone of Veľká Fatra National Park — nature protection rules apply.
• Near the entrance: guesthouses, hotels, restaurants, playgrounds, sports pitches, a small trout lake, and a petting zoo.
• About 2 km from the valley mouth: a dam on the stream, 4 drinking water wells, and a recreation area with benches and barbecue fireplaces.
• Mid-valley: Chata pod Kozím mountain hut with a snack bar, playground, and meadow.
• Two signed trails to waterfalls branch off near the hut: Vyšný Pálenický vodopád (west side) and Jelení vodopád (east side).
• Two educational nature trails: one leads to the Hrabovo recreation area; the other follows the valley with 10 stops covering local fauna, flora, geology, wetlands, and waterfalls.

The educational trail passes the geologically fascinating Červená skala rock and threads through the narrow gorge called Za dírou — small surprises that make the hike even more rewarding.
