Tlstá hora (1,208 m a.s.l.) rises quietly above the village of Černová, just 5 km west of Ružomberok in the northern part of Veľká Fatra. It may not be the tallest summit in the range, but it rewards those who make the effort with genuine mountain calm and surprisingly far-reaching views.

The peak forms part of the Liptov branch of the main ridge, sharing a common massif with the neighbouring Vtáčnik (1,236 m). The summit ridge is draped in patchy forest, and where the trees thin out, the panorama opens up beautifully — expect views across the surrounding peaks of Veľká Fatra, and on a clear day you can spot Malá Fatra, the Orava Magura, the Beskyds, the Chočské vrchy, and both the Western and Low Tatras. The terrain is pleasantly moderate, making this a rewarding outing in any season — lush and green in summer, snow-dusted and peaceful in winter.

Tlstá hora sits within the Šípska Fatra geomorphological sub-unit — one of the quieter, less-visited corners of Veľká Fatra where you can still find real solitude on the trail.
