Čierňavský vrch (1,318 m a.s.l.) is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path summit in the Slovak mountain range of Veľká Fatra. It rewards those who enjoy a little adventure beyond the waymarked trails, offering genuine wilderness and solitude in a beautifully protected landscape.

The peak sits on a ridge running westward from Maďarová (1,340 m), where the ridge splits into two branches — one heading southwest towards Konská (965 m) and another heading northwest towards Chovanová (1,106 m). Its northern slopes descend into the Salatín stream valley, the southern slopes into the Čierňava valley, and the western slopes towards the right-bank tributaries of the Ľubochnianka river. The terrain is forested and wild, with a calm atmosphere throughout the year. Winter brings lasting snow cover, spring and autumn dress the forest in vivid colours, and summer offers a pleasant cool escape.

The entire area falls within the Veľká Fatra National Park, ensuring the landscape remains protected and largely untouched.

• The summit lies outside all marked tourist trails — reaching the top requires independent navigation through forested terrain. The valleys of the Salatín or Čierňava streams can serve as starting points. Difficulty: demanding (no trail markings).
