Víšek is a modest but geologically fascinating hill in the Česká Lípa district, tucked away in the forests near the village of Hradčany. It's a great destination for those seeking a quiet walk away from the crowds through a landscape shaped by ancient volcanic activity.

The flat summit plateau is partly composed of strongly ferruginous sandstone (ironstone), formed by Tertiary volcanic activity. Geologists have also identified a north-south oriented basaltoid vein here. Today the summit is covered by young forest, so don't expect sweeping views - instead, enjoy a peaceful walk through woodland and past a scenic peat bog, making the trip rewarding in any season, especially in autumn and spring when the forest colors shine.
