Čertova zeď is a modest but intriguing hill in the Česká Lípa district, tucked away in the forests near Mimoň. Its name refers to a striking rock formation - geologically known as a dyke - that folklore imagined as a wall built by the devil himself.

This is a spot for hikers seeking quiet trails away from crowds. The Zákupská pahorkatina landscape here is gentle and forested, and the rocky wall rising among the trees leaves an impression in any season. In summer the dense greenery surrounds the trail almost entirely, in autumn the forest colors highlight the raw stone, and in winter the frost-covered dyke takes on an almost fairytale look. Don't expect sweeping panoramic views here - it's more about the atmosphere of a hidden, curious natural feature.

How to reach the summit

• By car, the closest access point is Hvězdov, from where a network of forest roads leads to various points along the ridge - easy to moderate difficulty, time depending on the chosen route.

Worth noting: there is another, better-known Čertova zeď near Český Dub - a completely different location, despite sharing the name due to the similarity of the rock formations. This lesser-known version in the Ralská pahorkatina offers a peaceful alternative for those seeking less-trodden paths in the Czech countryside.
