Ralsko is a dramatic castle ruin perched atop a forested hill in northern Bohemia, offering one of the region's most rewarding panoramic views. From the crumbling walls you can spot landmarks such as Ještěd, Bezděz, Říp and even the lookout tower at Vrátenská hora near Kokořín.

The rocky summit is wrapped in dense forest, and the approach itself feels like stepping into a legend — the path was carved directly into the rock and passes through two natural stone gateways before reaching the ruins. What remains includes defensive walls, the remnants of two residential towers, palace foundations, and massive gable walls up to 5.6 metres thick. In summer the hill draws hikers and history lovers alike, while autumn colours and winter silence give the ruins an especially atmospheric, almost eerie character. The summit and surrounding forest are protected as the Ralsko Nature Reserve.

• From Mimoň via the Vranovská alej avenue — red-marked KČT trail, about 6 km, 400 m elevation gain, moderate difficulty
• From the east — yellow-marked trail starting at Pertoltice pod Ralskem railway stop, joining the main route near the summit
• Continuing north from the summit toward Noviny pod Ralskem and Stráž pod Ralskem

• Protected as a cultural monument since 1965, though the ruins continue to deteriorate while restoration plans remain unrealized
• The area was closed to the public from 1969 to 1990 due to a Soviet military zone; the original lookout tower burned down during this period
• The trail includes rocky sections and narrow stone gateways, so sturdy footwear is recommended

Local legends tell of a sleeping army waiting to defend the Czech nation in its hour of need, a buried treasure guarded by a giant dog, and a knight punished by the ghostly White Lady.
