Velký Jelení vrch (514 m above sea level) is a compact but striking summit in the Česká Lípa district, part of the Ralsko Geopark. Its basalt rocky ridge with dramatic columnar jointing makes it one of the most rewarding short climbs in the region.

The summit forms a rocky ridge roughly 100 meters long, running north to south and topped by a basalt rock spike offering a full panoramic view over the Ralsko Hills, the Lusatian Mountains and the Ještěd ridge. Near the top, frost-shattered cliffs and scarps shaped by cryogenic processes add to the wild character of the place. The slopes are covered with valuable relict beech forest mixed with mountain elm, and in spring you can spot martagon lily and nine-leaved toothwort among the flora. It's a peaceful, slightly wild corner popular with nature lovers and climbers alike.

• From Hamr na Jezeře — several unmarked footpaths lead directly to the hill, moderate difficulty
• From Stráž pod Ralskem — a red-marked trail loops around Kozí hřbet and Černý rybník toward Děvín castle, passing near Malý Jelení vrch

• Seven marked climbing routes graded 1-4 UIAA are found on the summit rocks
• Cars and cyclists (route no. 3046) can reach the crossroads near the Sochorov monument, below the former rock castle and hermitage of Stohánek

Together with the neighboring Malý Jelení vrch, it forms a protected natural area — and its summit ranks among the best viewpoints in the whole Děvín forest district.
