Löffelspitze (1962 m a.s.l.) is one of the first peaks along the Walserkamm ridge in the Bregenzerwaldgebirge, easily recognized by its striking, distinctive shape. A prominent summit cross awaits hikers at the top, along with sweeping views over the surrounding Vorarlberg mountains.

The slopes are covered in dense grass, heather and scattered fir trees, giving the mountain a rugged yet welcoming character. About 200 meters below the summit to the northwest, the Frutz river has its source. On clear days you can spot neighboring peaks such as Pfrondhorn, Seraspitz and Mutabellaspitze. Some sections of the ridge drop off steeply on both sides, so good route-finding skills are useful.

How to reach the summit

• Blons via Oberblons and Alpe Sentum — the easiest route, about 3.5 hours, roughly 800 m elevation gain; a bus runs from Blons to Alpe Sentum, shortening the walk
• St. Gerold (Gasthaus Kreuz) via Plankenberg, Salum Maisäß, Plansott Alpe, Schäfisalpe and Sentum Alpe — about 4-5 hours, roughly 1000 m elevation gain
• Furkajoch via the ridge and Serajöchle — the shortest but most exposed route, about 1 hour, roughly 200 m elevation gain, involving scrambling over rock with no continuous marked trail

Practical information

• The ridge route from Furkajoch has exposed sections without a continuous path, with steep drops on both sides
• This variant is only recommended in good weather and is not suitable for small children
• Sure-footedness, a head for heights and sturdy hiking boots are essential

Despite its moderate elevation, Löffelspitze delivers a genuinely alpine experience and ranks among the finer viewpoints in this part of the Bregenzerwald.
