Rising to 2095 m, the Damülser Mittagsspitze is the highest point of the municipality of Damüls and the tallest peak of the Bregenzerwaldgebirge range. It's a summit that rewards a relatively short climb with sweeping views across Vorarlberg's mountain world.

The peak forms part of a roughly ten-kilometer-long ridge stretching from the Sünser Spitze in the west, over the Ragazer Blanken, Hochblanken and Hohe Licht, to the Damülser Mittagsspitze itself, and onward to Wannenkopf, Gungern and Klippern. The ridge slopes gently southward toward Damüls, forming a broad tilted plateau, while its northern flank drops away in steep, bare rock bands. In summer the grassy upper slopes and wide vistas make it a rewarding hike, while in winter the surrounding terrain draws ski tourers, though the summit itself demands caution when snow-covered.

How to reach the summit

• From the Uga chairlift top station (1820 m) — about one hour to the top, moderate difficulty, sure-footedness and sturdy footwear required
• Alternatively from the north, from the Roßstelle top station (1392 m) of the Mellauer Bergbahn — around three hours, allowing a full ridge traverse from Mellau to Damüls using both cable cars

Practical information

• The southeastern trail is maintained annually by the Damüls mountain rescue service (Bergrettung Damüls)
• The north and west sides consist of rocky terrain unsuitable for hikers
• Without using the chairlift, plan for an additional hour of walking

The mountain was originally known as Trista — its current name comes from the people of Mellau, who saw the peak standing due south of their village, in the direction of 'midday' (Mittag).
