Hübscher Bühel is a modest but charming peak in the Bregenzerwald Mountains, sitting right on the boundary of three municipalities: Dornbirn, Mellau and Damüls. It won't draw crowds, but that's exactly its appeal - a quiet summit with lovely views over the Damüls mountain group.

The mountain is covered in grass on its eastern, southern and western sides, with no summit cross - just a granite survey stone marking the top. On the northern side, toward the Mellental valley, the slope drops steeply and rocky. Nearby lies the pretty Blaues See (Blue Lake), and from the top you can spot neighboring peaks like Portlahorn, Sünser Spitze and Ragazer Blanken.

• From Portlaalpe (1710 m) via Portlafürkle toward Sünser Joch - the shortest route, about 1 hour, 322 m of ascent, easy difficulty
• From Damüls via Sieben Hügel and Sünser Joch, returning via Alpe Oberdamüls - a loop hike, 5-6 hours total, around 620 m of ascent, moderate difficulty

• Portlaalpe and nearby alpine huts (Sünser Alpe, Oberdamülser Alpe) are staffed only in summer
• The nearest hut besides Portlaalpe is Freschenhaus (1846 m)
• Blaues See is about 1000 m from the summit, Furkajoch about 3.6 km away

Interestingly, maps sometimes mislabel this peak as Sünser Kopf - worth keeping in mind when planning your route.
