Glatthorn is the highest peak of the Bregenzerwaldgebirge range (or, depending on classification, part of the Lechquellengebirge), rising to 2133 m in Vorarlberg, Austria. Together with the neighboring Türtschhorn (2096 m), it forms a distinctive twin summit, clearly visible above Damüls and Fontanella.

The mountain is known for its smooth, steep flanks, which gave it its name (Glatthorn roughly translates to 'smooth horn'). In summer, a flower nature trail leads hikers toward the base of the climb, while in winter the slopes become part of the extensive Faschina-Damüls-Mellau ski area. From the summit, views open across the Großwalsertal and the wider Bregenzerwald range, and the ridge itself feels exposed and dramatic, especially on the wire-secured sections near the top.

How to reach the summit

• Faschina-Fontanella ski area — via the flower nature trail to the Schluchtensattel, then a steep ascent partly secured with cables (T3), demanding
• Alternative approaches from the Faschinajoch, from Fontanella and Fatnellaalpe to the south, and from Oberdamüls via the actual Damülser Horn to the north

Good to know

• The final stretch to the summit is cable-secured (T3 on the SAC scale)
• A high-level traverse path runs along the western flank above the Ladritschtobel
• The historic name Damülser Horn now refers only to a lower subsidiary peak (1929 m) above Unterdamüls

Interestingly, geographers still disagree on where Glatthorn belongs — some classify it within the Bregenzerwaldgebirge, others within the Lechquellengebirge.
