Galinakopf is a 2198-metre peak in the Rätikon range that sits precisely on the border between Austria and Liechtenstein. It's the mountain that gave its name to the entire Galina Group, and it rewards hikers with an easy ascent and remarkably wide views thanks to its dominant position above the surrounding terrain.

The southern flank is grassy all the way to the summit cross, while the other sides are made up of partly steep rock faces. Four distinct ridges radiate from the summit - north, east, south and southwest. The jagged northern ridge, the Galinagrat, offers scrambling and climbing opportunities, while the gentler, meadow-covered Galinagrätle runs first east and then northeast. From the top you can look out over the Malbun valley, the Wurmtal, and the noticeably lower peaks surrounding it.

How to reach the summit

• Gasthaus Mattajoch on the Vordergampalpe (1562 m) - easy trail, about 2 hours, difficulty: easy
• Alternatively, an easy ascent is also possible from Malbun to the south

A fun fact - by tradition, new players of the volleyball club VBC Galina receive their jerseys at sunrise on the summit of Galinakopf.
