Gurtisspitze is a striking, well-defined peak in the Galina group of the Rätikon range, offering a rewarding 360-degree panorama without requiring an overly strenuous climb. It's the kind of summit you can tackle on a good weather day and still have energy left to enjoy the view.

Below the summit, the terrain is covered in dense grass with scattered shrubs and a few fir trees, while the top itself is largely free of vegetation, giving hikers an open, unobstructed outlook in every direction. A simple summit cross marks the highest point. Nearby, the Gavadurabach stream rises to the northwest, while an unnamed brook flows south into the Galina river. The surrounding landscape feels wild yet approachable, especially in summer when trails are dry and easy to follow.

How to reach the summit

• Gurtis - via Bazora-Alpe to Gurtisspitze, roughly 4-5 hours round trip (descending via Spitzwiesle to Sattelalpe and back to Gurtis), difficulty: moderate
• Extended route: Gurtis - Bazora-Alpe - Gurtisspitze - Zäwasheilspitz - Spitzwiesle - Spitztälispitz - Hohe Köpfe - Galinaalp - Sattelalpe - Gurtis, roughly 8-12 hours, difficulty: demanding (the Hohe Köpfe section is rocky and partly secured with cables, recommended only for sure-footed, experienced hikers)
