Eschnerberg is a modest mountain of seven peaks straddling the border between Liechtenstein and Austria's Vorarlberg, rising above the Rhine Valley. It's a place where scenery and history walk hand in hand - the trail passes the ruins of two medieval castles and traces of one of the region's earliest settlements.

Formed as an inselberg by the ancient Rhine Glacier, Eschnerberg stretches about 7 km long and 2 km wide alongside the River Rhine. Its slopes are covered with forests and meadows, and from various points along the ridge you get open views over the Rhine Valley, the villages of the Liechtenstein Unterland, and the Rätikon range beyond. In spring and summer the path winds through green pastures, autumn brings colorful woods, and winter lends the ridge a quiet, peaceful character.

• Eschen or Schellenberg (Liechtenstein side) — ridge trail, approx. 2-3 hours, easy difficulty
• Tosters or Nofels-Fresch (Austrian side, Feldkirch) — alternative access from the north
