The castle ruins of Návarov are a hidden gem tucked into the hills of the Liberec Region — perched on a rocky outcrop above the confluence of the Kamenice River and the Zlatník stream, they carry centuries of turbulent history within their weathered walls. Here is a remarkable footnote: after the Swedish garrison finally left in 1644, the Prague governors ordered the castle deliberately demolished — fearing it would again become a military stronghold. The stone was then reused some twenty years later to build the nearby baroque manor house of Návarov.
