At 872 metres, Černá studnice is the highest peak of the Černostudniční Ridge in the Jizera Mountains and a striking landmark above the town of Jablonec nad Nisou. A historic stone lookout tower, a welcoming mountain hut and a scatter of granite boulders with colourful names make this summit well worth the walk.

The surroundings have a wonderfully rugged character — granite outcrops with names like 'Kladívko' (Little Hammer), 'Čertova hlavička' (Devil's Head) and 'Buchta' (Bun) peek out from the spruce forest along the ridge. In summer the woods offer cool shade; in winter a blanket of snow transforms the landscape and the views open up magnificently. The atmosphere is peaceful and unhurried, making it a perfect half-day escape.

• From Horní Černá Studnice village — forest path leading past the Veselý Cross, approximately 45–60 minutes, easy difficulty
• From Jablonec nad Nisou — the summit lies less than 5 km to the south-southeast of the town centre, reachable via several marked hiking trails

• A mountain chalet has operated on the summit since 1905 — a great stop for refreshments
• The lookout tower is 26 metres tall with 91 steps; its four viewing galleries offer panoramas of Jablonec, about three-quarters of Liberec, the full Ještěd-Kozákov Ridge, the Jizera Mountains, the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains), and on clear days the Bohemian Paradise with the ruins of Trosky, Bezděz and Ralsko
• Several granite boulders near the tower are used for bouldering and rock climbing

The granite tower was inaugurated on 14 August 1905 and drew an astonishing six thousand visitors to its opening ceremony — a testament to how beloved this summit has always been.
