Hvězda (958 m a.s.l.) is a rewarding summit in the westernmost part of the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains), topped by the charming stone lookout tower Štěpánka, built in 1892. It is the kind of place you recommend to everyone — easy to reach, beautiful views, and a touch of history.

The peak sits at the intersection of two protected areas: the Jizerské hory Protected Landscape Area and the Krkonoše National Park. The surrounding forests and gentle ridges make for a pleasant hike in any season — lush and green in summer, magical under snow in winter. From the 24-metre tower, visitors are rewarded with sweeping panoramas of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

• Kořenov / Příchovice — village at the foot of the hill, local trails lead directly to the summit, difficulty: easy

• The 24-metre stone lookout tower Štěpánka (built 1892) stands at the summit — entry may be charged; check opening hours before your visit.
• The area falls within Krkonoše National Park — national park regulations apply.

The tower was named after Archduke Stefan of Austria — the peak itself was renamed 'Stephanshöhe' in his honour after 1847, before reverting to its original Czech name Hvězda ('Star') after World War I.
