Špičák is one of the most distinctive summits in the Jizera Mountains — its sharp profile rises a dramatic 320 metres above the town of Tanvald and is visible from miles around. At the top you will find a handsome stone lookout tower dating from 1909 and a cosy mountain chalet, while in winter the slopes transform into the largest ski resort in the entire Jizera Mountains.

The terrain around Špičák combines dense spruce forests with open, well-groomed ski runs. From the lookout tower the view sweeps across Tanvald and the surrounding Jizera ridges, with more distant ranges visible on clear days. Autumn brings warm golden colours to the hillsides, spring fills the forest with fresh greenery, and winter belongs to skiers — though hikers are always welcome too. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly throughout the year.

The tower was originally named the 'Jubilee Tower of Franz Joseph I', built in 1909 to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the emperor's reign — a grand gesture that left the Jizera Mountains with one of their most elegant stone landmarks.
