Szrenica (1,361 m a.s.l.) is one of the most rewarding summits in the western Krkonoše — rising 60 metres above the main ridge, it commands sweeping views and welcomes hikers, skiers and curious travellers alike. Whether you arrive on foot or by chairlift, the granite-studded top never disappoints.

The entire massif is built from Karkonosze granite, shaped over millennia into picturesque boulder fields and rocky outcrops — most dramatic on the eastern slopes. From the summit you can gaze across the Jelenia Góra Basin, the Izera Mountains and the Czech Krkonoše stretching to the south. In summer the peak is swept by cool mountain breezes; in winter it transforms into a proper alpine world, with frost-covered trees and the SkiArena Szrenica ski resort operating on the northern slopes. The name 'Szrenica' is thought to come from the yellowish-green lichens clinging to the granite boulders, which from a distance look just like hoarfrost.

Szrenica is part of the Crown of Lower Silesian Mountains, making it a must-tick peak for regional peak-baggers. The on-site meteorological observatory has been tracking this remarkable alpine microclimate since the 1950s — a reminder that the mountains here play by their own rules.
