The Kadaň Reservoir is a peaceful stretch of water on the Ohře River, right by the town of Kadaň in the Chomutov district. It's a spot where practical water management meets a laid-back day out - perfect for a gentle bike ride or a quiet walk by the water.

The surrounding landscape is soft and welcoming, with green banks lining the shore. Right above the dam, on the left bank, stands the Franciscan monastery of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, protected as a national cultural monument. In summer, the reservoir draws cyclists and walkers, while autumn brings warm colors to the hills around it. The mood here is relaxed and low-key, far from the crowds of Bohemia's bigger lakes.

Built in 1972, the reservoir was created to replace lost water capacity at the nearby Nechranice reservoir, and today it also generates electricity through a small hydroelectric plant.
