Klínovec (1,243 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak in the Ore Mountains and one of the most accessible high summits in the Czech Republic. Its broad, open plateau, sweeping cross-border views and excellent year-round infrastructure make it a destination worth visiting in every season.

From the top you can see the full ridge of the Ore Mountains stretching in both directions, and on clear days the German resort town of Oberwiesenthal is clearly visible below, with the Fichtelberg massif rising just 30 metres lower on the other side of the border. The summit feels spacious and airy — in summer it is a hub for hikers and mountain bikers, while in winter it transforms into the largest ski resort in the Ore Mountains. With a mean annual temperature of just 2.6°C, the summit can feel Alpine even in July, so be ready for a chill and strong winds.

• From Jáchymov — gondola cable car (2,168 m long, 480 m elevation gain) — a few minutes, easy; cyclists and skiers welcome
• From the north — Dámská gondola (1,210 m long, 232 m elevation gain) — opened Christmas 2019, approaching from the Oberwiesenthal side

• The octagonal stone observation tower on the summit (reconstructed 2012–2016) is open to visitors — entry fee applies
• A distinctive 80-metre concrete telecommunications tower stands beside the hotel as a landmark
• The summit hotel is currently closed to guests
• In summer the Jáchymov cable car accepts bicycles — Klínovec is a great starting point for MTB trails descending the mountain
• Skiareál Klínovec is the largest ski resort in the Ore Mountains
• The Czech-German border runs near the summit; crossing into Germany towards Oberwiesenthal is possible in the area

The first observation tower here was built in 1817 and spa guests from Karlovy Vary used to make the journey by horse-drawn carriage — making Klínovec one of the oldest mountain tourism destinations in Central Europe.
