The Slopes of Truskavenský Valley form a small but fascinating nature reserve on the northern side of the Truskavenský dol valley, right in the heart of the Kokořínsko region. This is a place for those who enjoy walking slowly and looking closely - the edges of the sandstone rocks here host true rarities, including the Czech meadow pasqueflower and the leafless iris.

The landscape is shaped by sandstone rocks covered with heat-loving grasslands, typical of dry, sun-exposed slopes. In spring and early summer the area comes alive with the colors of rare flowers, while views over the surrounding valleys of Kokořínsko add to the sense of quiet wilderness. In autumn the grasses turn golden, making this a photogenic stop on any hike through the Kokořínsko – Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area.

This is one of the few places in the region where you might spot the rare purse-web spiders, living relics of the ancient steppe landscapes that once covered Bohemia.
