Vysoký vrch (427 m) is a modest but characterful hill in the Kokořínsko – Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area, beloved by climbers and lovers of dramatic sandstone scenery. Its rocky terraces and towers make it a small gem for a half-day outing, with views stretching across a beautiful corner of northern Bohemia.

The landscape here is shaped by sandstone formations typical of the Polomené hory range, with forested slopes and rugged rocky ridges. From the rock terraces at the summit, you get lovely views, especially towards Kokořínsko and the České středohoří mountains. In summer the area draws hikers and boulderers alike, while in autumn and winter the sandstone towers take on a quieter, more atmospheric character under frost or a dusting of snow. Just about forty metres north of the summit lies Kameníkova jizba, also known as Panenská jeskyně - a rock dwelling where, between 1824 and 1829, a stonemason reportedly lived with his family while carving millstones from the local sandstone.

How to get to the summit

• From the bus stop Dubá, Horky, rozc. — blue-marked trail through the settlement of Plešivec, easy to moderate walk
• By car to the road between Dubá and Luka, from which the hill lies to the north
