Lake Pannónia is a small but remarkably scenic lake in Szentendre, wrapped in dense reed beds and offering a peaceful escape into nature just a short walk from the Pannóniatelep stop. It has been a locally protected nature reserve since 2000, home to a surprising variety of wildlife.

Poplars and willows line the shores, creating a shady, green setting that feels calm and inviting in every season. The thick reeds shelter mallards, moorhens, and reed warblers, while the trees attract woodpeckers and various songbirds looking for food and nesting sites. During bird migration, both the narrow reed fringe and the open water provide feeding and resting spots for different species passing through. In dry periods, the lake also becomes an important watering hole for the surrounding wildlife.
