The Határréti Reservoir is a peaceful artificial lake tucked into the northern edge of the Solymár Valley in western Pest County. It's a popular spot for anglers and anyone looking for a relaxing day by the water, surrounded by gentle Hungarian countryside.

The lake was formed by damming the Határ-réti stream, which flows roughly northwest to southeast through this section. The western part of the lake sits within Pilisszántó, its southern shore belongs to Pilisvörösvár, and the northeastern section falls under Csobánka. The setting is calm and green, with the surrounding hills offering a scenic backdrop in every season — lively with anglers in spring and summer, quiet and colorful in autumn.

How to get there

• From Pilisvörösvár, via the road to Pilisszántó — about 4 km drive, then turn right (east) and continue roughly 800 m to the reservoir entrance, paved road, easy
• By bus from Budapest with Volánbusz lines 820 or 830, get off at Pilisszántó, kishíd stop, then a short walk back to the turnoff

Practical information

• Water surface covers 7.9 hectares, length just over 400 m, average width around 150 m
• A fishing warden's house and a barrier-controlled car park are located on the shore; parking is chargeable for those without a fishing licence
• Fishing is only allowed from the northern and southern banks; the stream inflow area and the dam wall are off-limits
• No boats or floating bait devices are permitted
• Fishing hours run from sunrise to sunset only

Carp make up the majority of stocked fish, and any specimen over 5 kg is protected and must be released back into the water.
