Kis-Strázsa-hegy is a modest but characterful summit in the Pilis Mountains, rising right at the edge of Esztergom-Kertváros. As the final ridge of the Pilis range in this direction, it offers an easy and rewarding outing for hikers of all levels.

The hill's slopes conceal several caves, including the strictly protected Kis-Strázsa-hegyi-hasadékbarlang (also known as Tüskés Cave), shaped by thermal waters in Triassic limestone and named for its spiky calcite formations. A relay tower and lookout point stand on the summit. To the southeast, across the Remete valley, rises the taller Nagy-Strázsa-hegy (308.8 m). The surroundings are wooded and peaceful, with pleasant views toward the Danube valley and Esztergom — especially attractive in spring and autumn when the air is clear.

Practical information

• The Kis-Strázsa-hegyi-hasadékbarlang cave is strictly protected and closed to unauthorized visitors
• A nature trail of the Danube-Ipoly National Park runs nearby, and the park's directorate has been headquartered at the foot of the hill since 2005

Gliding began on the hill's slopes back in 1932, and a training airfield once operated here, where pilots flew gliders designed by Ernő Rubik.
