Hradčany is a small, rebuilt village in the Czech Republic, part of the town of Ralsko, tucked inside a former military training area. Once a beloved holiday resort, today it offers a quiet escape into nature and a glimpse of a fascinating past.

The village lies at the edge of the Kokořínsko – Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area, surrounded by sandstone formations and forest. Nearby rise the Hradčany Walls (Hradčanské stěny), a striking sandstone rock feature that has drawn visitors since the early 20th century. In summer the area comes alive around its ponds, while winter brings a peaceful, snow-covered stillness to this once-restricted landscape.

• The area around Hradčany makes a good starting point for walks toward the sandstone walls and nearby ponds, following the old merchant route from Mnichovo Hradiště to Česká Lípa.

In the early 1900s, Hradčany was a thriving resort town with six hotels, guesthouses and a large beach with a public bathing area on the Hradčany pond. Today it remains a peaceful spot that still echoes its once-lively tourist past.
