Dlouhá hora is a quiet, forested summit rising to 748 metres in the Ještěd-Kozákov Ridge, tucked away near the village of Bílý Kostel nad Nisou. It's a place for hikers who prefer solitude and deep woods over crowded trails.

The peak forms a narrow ridge section covered in spruce forest giving way to beech woods and scree forests with maple and elm, all with rich undergrowth. The northeastern slopes drop in terraces toward the Lužická Nisa valley and still hold remnants of First Republic-era military fortifications. In autumn the beech woods turn golden, while winter brings a hushed, snow-covered stillness to the ridge.

How to reach the summit

• Panenská Hůrka, Andělská Hora or Kryštofovo Údolí — closest points reachable by car, followed by forest paths; difficulty: easy to moderate
• The saddle between Dlouhá hora and Vápenný — marked blue, green and yellow trails pass through here, with unmarked forest roads leading on to the summit itself

Practical information

• The summit itself lies outside the nature reserve boundaries — the protected area covers the eastern slope only
• No marked hiking trail leads directly to the top; access is via a network of unmarked forest roads

The nature reserve on the eastern slope protects natural beech forest communities home to rare and protected plant species, making a short detour from the main route well worth it.
