Vernéřov Castle is a place that no longer truly exists - a vanished baroque manor house, once part of a village that was completely erased from the map. Today only foundations and scattered fragments of walls remain, making this a spot for those drawn to forgotten history rather than scenic views.

The site sits on the eastern edge of an industrial zone near Klášterec nad Ohří. The surrounding landscape is stark and industrial rather than romantic - the village of Vernéřov itself was demolished after 1986 to make way for an ash storage site for the Prunéřov power plant. There's no park or manicured grounds here, just quiet traces of what was once a noble estate, appealing mainly to history enthusiasts and fans of abandoned places.

Interestingly, the castle once held a remarkable museum with geological, mineralogical and archaeological collections assembled by Anton Martius, who spent his final years living at the castle as curator of the collections.
