Nepomyšl Castle is a Renaissance chateau built upon the remains of an older Gothic fortress, standing right at the heart of the village of Nepomyšl, just seven kilometers west of Podbořany. Its dramatic history of decay and rebirth makes it a fascinating stop for anyone exploring the Ústí region.

The building's unusual layout is one of its most striking features - an irregular sixteen-sided exterior wraps around a nine-sided courtyard, a rare architectural puzzle worth seeing in person. Inside, vaulted cellars still hold Gothic portals, while painted timber ceilings and varied vaulting survive in the upper rooms. The surrounding countryside is quiet and rural, typical of the Louny district, offering a peaceful escape any time of year - lush green fields in spring and summer, golden hues across the low hills in autumn.

• From Podbořany — about 7 km along local roads, easy route suitable for walking or cycling
