Klášterec nad Ohří Chateau is a Renaissance-turned-neo-Gothic gem sitting on the banks of the Ohře river, right at the edge of the Ore Mountains. Behind its turreted facade hides one of the finest porcelain collections in the Czech Republic, wrapped in a peaceful English-style park perfect for a slow afternoon.

The chateau rises on the left bank of the Ohře, so a visit pairs beautifully with a riverside stroll. Its 9.5-hectare park, originally laid out as a French garden by Michael Osvald Thun, is home to remarkable old trees — ginkgo, Amur cork tree, and cucumber magnolia among them. In summer the park offers cool, shaded walks; in autumn the foliage turns golden and dramatic; in winter the neo-Gothic battlements and little turrets stand out beautifully against the snow.
