Výpustek Cave is one of the most fascinating underground destinations in the Moravian Karst — a place where 15,000 years of human history are layered one on top of another like geological strata. From prehistoric cave bears to Nazi aircraft engine factories and Cold War nuclear bunkers, this cave has seen it all. Come ready to have your mind blown by just how much happened beneath these limestone ceilings.

The cave sits in the valley of the Křtiny stream, between the villages of Křtiny and Adamov. The atmosphere inside is unlike anything you will find in a typical show cave: dimly lit wartime machinery remnants, heavy blast doors and military fittings sit alongside ancient stalactites that reappeared only after Cold War-era walls were torn down. The temperature stays cool year-round, making it a welcome escape in summer and an eerie adventure in winter.

It is remarkable to think that the same corridors once sheltered cave lions — a complete skeleton was recovered here and is now on display in Vienna — and later housed 1,200 forced labourers working two 12-hour shifts to produce fuel injection pumps for Daimler-Benz aircraft engines under the Nazi codename 'Dinar'.
