Just 13 km north of Brno's city centre, the rocky ridge of Babí lom rises above the forests of the Adamov Highlands — making it the highest peak in the immediate surroundings of this Moravian city. The southern summit (521 m a.s.l.) is crowned by a lookout tower, and the jagged Devonian conglomerate crags give this surprisingly wild spot a character well beyond its modest elevation.

The ridge runs distinctly north to south and is studded with rock towers reaching up to 20 metres high. The entire area (23.1 ha) is protected as the Babí lom Nature Reserve, so the forest here feels genuinely untouched. Spring brings fresh greenery, autumn transforms the hillsides into a blaze of colour, and in summer the shaded rock faces offer a cool escape from the city heat. The crags are a popular rock-climbing destination, so on weekends you may well share the summit area with climbers working the routes.

The Kuřimka stream has its source on the north-eastern slopes of the massif — a reminder that even the gentlest hills can quietly nurture entire small worlds.
