Veľká Javorina (970 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the White Carpathians, sitting right on the Slovak-Czech border. It is a place with a special character — wide open summit meadows, sweeping panoramas, and a long tradition of friendship between two neighbouring nations.

The broad, treeless summit ridge offers some of the finest views in the region. On a clear day you can spot the Hrubý Jeseník, the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, Malá Fatra, and even the distant Považský Inovec. In summer the hillsides bloom with wildflowers, while in winter the area becomes a favourite for cross-country skiers. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming — far from the crowds of bigger mountain ranges, yet rewarding enough for any hiking enthusiast.

• Every summer the 'Slavnosti bratství Čechů a Slováků' — the Festival of Brotherhood of Czechs and Slovaks — is held here on the summit.

A stone on the summit carries the inscription: 'Tu bratia vždy sa stretať budú' — 'Here brothers shall always meet.' The tradition goes back to the Slovak national revival movement, whose members gathered here with like-minded thinkers from Moravia and Bohemia. That spirit of friendship is very much alive today.
