The City Public Transport Museum in Szentendre is a must-see for anyone fascinated by old trams, suburban trains and buses. Set in a historic 1914 tram depot right next to the HÉV H5 terminus and the local Volánbusz bus terminal, it offers a fun and easy day out.

Inside the depot hall and on the open-air exhibition ground, visitors can see everything from a former HÉV steam locomotive to the experimental Hungaroplan tram, plus trams from Miskolc and Nyíregyháza. Five further exhibition rooms trace the history of Budapest's rail transport, showcase photos from tram networks across Hungary, display technical relics of track and overhead line maintenance, recreate the original depot blacksmith's workshop, and celebrate Budapest's buses and trolleybuses, including preserved BKV vehicles that occasionally take part in nostalgia rides.
