A forgotten ruin of a manor house hidden in the woods above a small pond near the village of Vrbička in the Louny district. Its true history remains a mystery - no written records survive about its original name or purpose, and what little is known comes mainly from surface finds and old maps.

The surroundings have a quiet, almost overlooked character - dense forest, silence broken only by rustling trees, and the nearby pond create an atmospheric setting, especially beautiful in autumn and early spring when visibility through the bare trees improves. The area around the ruin is protected as the Jalovcové stráně nad Vrbičkou nature monument, adding extra natural value to a visit here. The structure itself is a small rectangular building with thick rubble-stone walls, and its character still puzzles researchers since it does not clearly fit the definition of either a castle or a fortress.

How to get there

• From the Ořkov forester's lodge on the road between Nová Ves and Valeč - forest path heading southeast, easy to moderate difficulty
• Alternatively from the Hlína sheepfold - a path leads toward the pond next to which the ruin stands

Practical information

• The ruin sits above a pond, to the right of the forest path
• The structure is small, roughly 7.1 × 7.9 metres, with walls about 1.2 metres thick
• Nearby are the remains of three vaulted-cellar buildings and an unfinished modern-era sheepfold at the top of the hill

The name Lina actually comes from the nearby Hlína sheepfold, while the true medieval name of this building remains unknown to this day - perhaps only future archaeological research will solve the mystery.
