Szentendre Gallery is a compact but charming art gallery located right on the main square of Szentendre. It's a place where historic architecture meets modern and 20th-century Hungarian art, making it a great stop for anyone exploring the Danube Bend region.

The gallery occupies the ground floor of a Baroque merchant house built in 1720, itself constructed using remnants of 16th-17th century buildings. Interestingly, the structure is actually six houses joined under one roof, and its original layout - shops facing the square, storerooms behind them, and living quarters upstairs - is still recognizable today. Walking through Fő tér, it's well worth stepping inside to soak up the old-town atmosphere, especially pleasant in spring and autumn when the square is lively but not overrun with tourists.

In 2016 the gallery hosted a major installation by Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota called Emlékeső (Rain of Memories), featuring over twenty thousand keys suspended in a web of red thread - the first large-scale presentation of her work in Central Europe.
