Dolní Beřkovice Chateau is a Renaissance manor on the left bank of the Elbe River, surrounded by a beautiful landscaped park - a perfect destination for a relaxed outing that blends history with nature. For centuries the estate belonged to the Lobkowicz family, and its character still recalls the former glory of Czech aristocracy.

The chateau stands on the site of an old fortified settlement above a bend in the Elbe, and its square layout with corner towers blends nicely with the surrounding park of about 5 hectares. Walking among the 66 species of trees, mostly native, is pleasant in any season - the park turns fresh green in spring, offers shade along the riverbank in summer, and dazzles with color in autumn. The terrain is flat, making the route suitable for families with children and anyone looking for an easy walk combined with a touch of history.

• From Mělník - about 9 km, easy route, accessible by road along the Elbe or by local walking/cycling trail
• From Horní Beřkovice - about 10 km, easy route, convenient for a cycling trip along the river

Practical information

• The chateau has been a protected cultural monument since 1966
• A pillar of the former princely mill survives in the park, marked with a water gauge recording Elbe floods
• The Chapel of St. Joseph and St. Zdeněk is located in the southeastern part of the chateau
• Since 2023 the estate has belonged to a private company

Fun fact: the fresco in the chateau chapel is said to have been painted by Berta Lobkowicz herself, and near the chateau a stone pillar of the old princely mill still stands, bearing historical flood records.
