Sovice, also known as Sovický vrch (278 m), is a small but distinctive witness hill in the Úštěk Hills, surrounded by fenced vineyards and orchards. It's a place for those who enjoy a bit of off-the-beaten-path exploration rather than crowded trails — there's no marked path to the summit, making it a quiet adventure for the curious hiker.

The lower slopes of the hill open up to views in every direction, and near the summit, from a sunken irrigation reservoir fed by water pumped from the Elbe, you can enjoy a view northwest toward the České Středohoří mountains. The top itself is covered by mature forest, which blocks wider views but offers pleasant shade. The southern and western slopes are covered with fenced vineyards and orchards, giving the area a distinct rural charm in every season — golden vines in autumn, quiet greenery in summer.

• From the hunting range at the foot of the hill (reached via field roads from the northeast) — then a forest path climbing southwest to the reservoir, roughly 30-40 minutes, easy to moderate difficulty
• Access via vineyard paths — possible only outside the grape ripening season

The hill holds an intriguing past — archaeological research in 2007-2008 confirmed settlement dating back to the Eneolithic, Bronze and Hallstatt periods, plus an early medieval settlement from the 9th-10th century whose fortifications were destroyed by landslides in 1788 and 1883.
