Cantacuzino Castle in Bușteni is one of Romania's most enchanting historic mansions — a neo-Romanian architectural gem nestled at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains. Built in 1911 for Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, nicknamed 'the Nabob', it dazzles visitors with its ornate interiors, romantic atmosphere and stunning mountain backdrop. Set in the Zamora neighbourhood and surrounded by a 3.5-hectare park, the castle offers breathtaking views of the Bucegi massif and the Heroes' Cross on Mount Caraiman from its main terrace. Step inside and you will find Roman-style mosaics, murals painted by Venetian artists, Murano glass stained windows, fireplaces decorated with gold leaf, and a grand staircase in Carrara marble. The central pavilion houses a unique gallery of life-size portraits painted on Cordoban leather, as well as a collection of 27 heraldic coats of arms of noble families related to the Cantacuzinos.
