Șapte Scări Canyon proves that big adventures come in small packages — just 160 meters long, this gorge packs in seven natural rock steps that turn into a cascading waterfall after heavy rain. It's one of the most memorable short hikes in the Piatra Mare Mountains.

Carved into Jurassic limestone by the Valea Șurii de Piatră stream, the canyon's seven steps range from 2.5 to 15 meters high, and ladders installed along the route mean no climbing gear is needed — just sturdy shoes and a sense of adventure. The narrow, shaded gorge creates a cool, mossy microclimate that feels worlds away from the sunlit ridges above. Spring and early summer bring the strongest water flow, when the steps roar as genuine waterfalls; by autumn the stream calms, revealing the smooth erosion pools (potholes) carved into the rock walls over thousands of years.
