Kladské sedlo (817 m) is a captivating mountain pass in the Eastern Sudetes, sitting right on the Polish-Czech border where the Śnieżnik Massif meets the Bialskie Mountains. It is a place where centuries of history, natural beauty and cross-border adventure come together in one spot.

The pass is enveloped by dense lower-montane spruce forest, giving it a peaceful, sheltered feel even in summer. The neighbouring summits of Sierstkowa (974 m) and Rykowisko (948 m) frame the landscape beautifully. Autumn brings misty ridges and deep green forest; winter turns the whole area into a quiet snowy wonderland. This was once the historic boundary between Moravia and Silesia — and later between the Kingdom of Prussia and Austria-Hungary — making every step here feel like a walk through history.

• From Stronie Śląskie (Poland) — via Bolesławów along the so-called 'Moravian Road', a paved road accessible by car; the pass is directly on the roadside.
• From Bolesławów via Kamienica and the Staromorawska Pass (794 m) — hiking trail, moderate difficulty; the route passes the 'Swedish Earthworks' from the Thirty Years' War and stone sculptures of sleeping apostles.
• Red trail from the summit of Śnieżnik through the pass to Bielice — moderate difficulty, popular with hikers.

• At the pass there is a Czech mountain hut 'Horská chata Sedlo' with a snack bar and 8 beds — open occasionally.
• The border crossing is open to vehicles up to 16 tonnes; no passport checks since 2007 (Schengen area).
• The nearby Nowa Morawa nature reserve is worth visiting — bring a map.

The road across the pass was built in the 19th century at the initiative of Princess Marianne of Orange-Nassau, who owned the surrounding estates — her legacy stretches all the way from Kamieniec Ząbkowicki to Stronie Śląskie.
