Bystry Karb is a striking grassy saddle sitting right on the Slovak-Polish border in the main ridge of the Western Tatras at 1,946 m above sea level. It is one of those rare mountain passes where you can stand with one foot in each country and enjoy sweeping views in both directions. Open, airy and surprisingly easy to reach, it makes for a rewarding stop on any ridge hike.

From the saddle you get lovely views down into the Polish Pysznianska Valley on one side and the Slovak Gáborová Valley on the other. The rocky peak of Blyšť (2,154.7 m) rises close by, making for a tempting extension of the trip. In summer the wide meadow saddle is carpeted with alpine flowers; in autumn the slopes turn golden. The Polish side drops away in rocky cliffs, while the Slovak side offers gentler grassy slopes — the contrast gives the place a dramatic edge.
